5Point Call for Artists

Theme - 5Point Film’s Tagline: Come Together. Return Changed.

Medium: All visual art forms, including but not limited to painting, illustration, graphic design, and photography.

Description: We are looking for a design that can be used for our festival poster, and merchandise and become our brand identity for the year. See past examples here and here. Work will be used for an 11 x 17-inch poster size. 

Compensation: The selected poster artwork will become the central festival identity for both the 2024 Flagship Festival and the 2024 On The Road tour. The artist will receive a licensing fee of $1,000 along with (2) VIP festival passes to the 2024 - 5Point Film Flagship Festival in Carbondale, CO

Restrictions: The call is open to all in the Roaring Fork Valley

Show your art at The Village Smithy!

It’s that time of year again! The Village Smithy Restaurant in Carbondale is looking for artists to fill their walls for 2024. Art shows are a month long, the first Monday of every month to the following first Monday of the next month. They have 3 spots available each month. First come, first serve. Fashion Show Designer Applications + Modeling and Dancer Auditions

Carbondale Arts’ Green is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza sells out for two nights of shows and a third pre-show evening. That is over 1800 people seeing your designs live and in person, not to mention your clothing's information being distributed in 4000 local newspapers via the show's program. Coverage on GITNB reaches over 30,000 people (and counting!) between newspaper, radio and social media. Both our audience and designers come from all around the country. About 25% of our audience comes from Aspen, 60% from elsewhere in the Roaring Fork Valley and 15% beyond!

Designer applications are due November 30, they will be juried and acceptance notifications will go out December 8th. All designers must meet our sustainability guidelines. Clothes do not need to be designed around the theme of the show.

Dancer Auditions are Sunday November 5 at The Launchpad 6-8pm. 5-10 dancers needed, must be technically trained and can adhere to a rigorous rehearsal schedule December through March. Reach out to choreography director Meagan Londy with questions 303.775.7037

Redstone Holiday Market Seeking Artists
Event is Saturday, December 2

The Redstone Holiday Market will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 11am - 4pm (Santa will be there from 12-2pm) and is presented by the Redstone Art Foundation.

Elsewhere Studios: Residency Open Call
Rolling admissions August 2023 - February 2024

Elsewhere Studios is a small art residency formed in 2011 in the rural setting of Paonia, CO. Elsewhere hosts artists from around the world and provides them with the opportunity to focus on their work in a unique and supportive environment. The residency is open to visual artists, writers, musicians, performing artists, scientists, activists, or any kind of creative worker wanting to dive into their practice.

There are 4 different residency spaces and they generally host between 4-6 artists at a time. Various scholarships are available. Visit elsewherestudios.org to learn more about the program.

Carbondale Creative District Public Art Call
Deadline is January 22, 2024

As part of the Creative District program, Carbondale Arts is commissioning 5 murals and 3 sculptures for the Carbondale Creative District’s newest public art park. This area, located along Highway 133, serves as a gateway into Carbondale and is part of the the Public Art Area adjacent to the Carbondale Storage Unit project. 

Eligibility: Artists, designers and muralists over 18. Artist teams are welcome to apply
Application Deadline: January 22, 2024
Project Budget: $4,000-$7,500 per mural or sculpture

The murals will range in size from 30’x9’ to 60’x9’. The three sculpture locations will each accommodate sculptures up to 8’ tall and 4’ wide and deep. 

This public art area will serve as an extension of the Rio Grande ARTway and contribute to the creative character and identity of Carbondale.

45th Annual Valley Visual Art Show by Carbondale Arts
Entry forms open Nov 1; close Dec 4

The 45th Annual Valley Visual Art Show runs from January 19 - February 22, 2024 and is open to all artists who reside in an ‘816XX’ ZIP code. There is no age restriction to participate in this show, though artists under the age of 18 should have parental/guardian consent.

All submitted artwork for the Valley Visual Art Show must be original (no giclée reproductions, please!), for sale, created within the last 12 months, and not previously shown at Carbondale Arts' Gallery. See link below for more info.

The Valley Visual Art Show is one of the longest-standing community art shows committed to showing the work of local artists. VVAS began in 1980 as a venue for local artists to share their artwork with the public.


Aspen Art Museum Teaching Artist Program

Artist Medical Emergency Grants
National grant program with rolling deadlines

Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants Cycle 20 from August 22 through September 22. These national grants of up to $5,000 support direct treatment expenses for medical, dental or mental health emergencies that occurred February 1, 2023 or later; the deadline is September 22. Choreographers, those creating in the visual arts, and those creating in the film/video/electronic/digital arts, living anywhere in the U.S., D.C, US territories, or tribal nations are eligible.

Cycle 21 will open October 17, with a deadline of November 17, for emergencies occurring April 1, 2023 and later. A recorded information session, along with guidelines and the online application, are available here.


Show your art at FirstBank in Carbondale!

Carbondale Arts partners with FirstBank in Carbondale (791 Hwy 133 by City Market) to feature work by local artists each spring and fall for approximately 6 months at a time. Two artists are featured simultaneously and commission proceeds benefit Carbondale Arts (a small stipend provided to artists).
