WORD IS BOND: A COLLABORATIVE EXHIBITION BY STANLEY BELL & TAKEO HIROMITSU

March 30 through April 27, 2018

Carbondale Arts presents “Word Is Bond”, a collaborative exhibition taking place between Carbondale-based artists Stanley Bell and Takeo Hiromitsu opening on Friday, March 30 from 6-8p.m. at the R2 Gallery located in The Launchpad. This exhibition takes place between Carbondale-based artists Stanley Bell and Takeo Hiromitsu, a conversation examining each of the artist’s reactions to the other’s mark-making. Both Bell and Hiromitsu share a common tendency to lean into a more process-oriented creative expression: improvising and reacting. Working together offered the challenge of bonding their two individual styles into one painting, each artwork retelling the discoveries of collaboration. The content of their work, as well as the namesake of this exhibition, is an invitation to interpret the artists’ subjective experiences.

A preview for Carbondale Arts members and gallery patrons will take place before the opening reception on Friday, Mar. 30, at 5:30 p.m. with a talk with both artists and an opportunity to see the exhibition before it opens at 6p.m.

Word Is Bond will be open to the public weekdays from 9am-5pm, and Saturdays from 10am-2pm through April 27.
