Hootenanny With the Heathens In Carbondale August 11, 2017

The Carbondale Creative District and KDNK Radio are pleased to announce Hootenanny With The Heathens on Friday, August 11th with The Band of Heathens. Local favorites, Mile Markers will open the festivities. KDNK will cook up some delicious BBQ and local brews will flow. All proceeds benefit KDNK Community Radio.

The event celebrates the 1 year anniversary of the state certification of Carbondale’s Creative District and the kick-off to KDNK’s bi-annual membership drive. “The Creative District process has brought us all together in a stronger, collaborative way” Amy Kimberly, Executive Director of Carbondale Arts explained, “ And community control of our airwaves is important and rare. We think that is something to celebrate”.

The Band of Heathens have been Roaring Fork Valley favorites for many years. Duende, the title of The Band of Heathens’ fifth studio album (and eighth overall), marks their tenth anniversary as a group. “I feel the album brings together all our influences, everything we’ve done over the years as a band,” explains Jurdi. “We’ve touched on every part of our career… our roots, some singer/songwriter contemplative stuff, some high-energy rock ‘n’ roll. It’s all us, the record we were supposed to make. Ten years later, that’s what keeps us coming back.”

The event is free and starts at 5 pm on the 4th Street Plaza in the core of The Carbondale Creative District. More information available at www.carbondalecreativedistrict.com
